Hello — I’m Marta

I’ve been childminding from our terraced house on Sholebroke Avenue for nine years, after seven years as a nursery room leader in Harehills. The setting is the ground floor: playroom at the front, kitchen where the children help with lunch, and a long back garden with a mud kitchen and a very patient apple tree. I take three under-fives at a time and one after-schooler, which is the whole point — the children know each other, and I know exactly where everyone is.

What a Tuesday looks like

Loose, not rigid — but the shape is the same every day, which small children like.

  1. 7:45 — Arrivals

    Coats on hooks, a quick word at the door about sleep, food and mood. Breakfast if you need it.

  2. 9:00 — Out

    Potternewton Park, the library rhyme time on Wednesdays, or the allotment if it isn’t hammering down.

  3. 11:30 — Lunch

    Cooked here, eaten together at the low table. The children lay it and clear it.

  4. 12:30 — Rest

    Naps in the back room for those who still nap, books and quiet play for those who don’t.

  5. 15:15 — School run

    Walk to Chapel Allerton Primary, then home for snack and the garden until pick-up.

  6. 17:30 — Handover

    A two-minute rundown at the door plus photos and a food, nappy and sleep log in the app.

Invoiced monthly in advance. I accept Tax-Free Childcare and the 15- and 30-hour funded entitlements for 3- and 4-year-olds.

The things parents ask at the visit

Do you have spaces?

Two full-day spaces from September 2026 (Monday to Thursday), and one after-school space now. I keep a short waiting list and I will always tell you honestly where you sit on it.

What about allergies?

Yes — we are a nut-free house as standard. I hold care plans for allergies, asthma and eczema, and I will do the training if your child needs something I haven’t handled before.

Do you drive?

I do, with business insurance and correctly fitted stage-appropriate seats. Most days we walk, but the farm trip and the dentist run happen by car with your written consent.

How do you handle illness?

A temperature over 38°C, sickness or diarrhoea means 48 hours at home. It is not fun for anyone, but it is the only thing that stops a bug going round a setting this small.

Can I see the policies?

All of them — safeguarding, behaviour, complaints, EYFS planning, accident records. They live in the blue folder in the hall and I would rather you read them than not.
